Last week I posted some plus size bright green pants on Facebook asking if you wanted to see how I would style bright green pants. Y’all said yes! So, here is the first of three looks I came up with. Not only will part 2 have two more looks, both of which I think you could work within a business casual dress code, I also get into some more no fail formulas for wearing solid bright colors. To not miss out on Part 2 and receive new posts by email, please subscribe.
Swoon-Worthy Sandals
This plus size bright green pants outfit was originally “Part 2,” but I love it SO much that I had to publish it first! Obviously, the plaid sandals are freakin’ amazing and really give this look a “wow factor.” But, if the sandals are not in your budget (they are currently on sale) or if you like to save your coins for more versatile shoes, any neutral sandal or flat would also work. But, if you have your heart set on a printed sandal, I did link to some alternatives below.
Color Theory for the Win
As I frequently mention, colors with a complementary relationship “pop” next to one another. You can read more about that here. Basically, this shade of green (pants) is opposite of this shade of pink (earrings/clutch) on the color wheel. This is the second “wow factor,” so even if you swap out the sandals for a neutral shoe, this outfit works! The statement earrings and clutch create a harmonious color scheme.
So then all you have to do is add in neutrals: a white top, a denim jacket, a tortoise bracelet, and possibly a neutral shoe. If you think about it, this is a pretty easy formula. It’s similar to color-blocking, but less bold. Pick one bright or bold color item and then add one or two bold accessories in a complementary color, keep the rest neutral.
Neutrals
By the way, neutral colors are white, ivory, grey, black, tan, and navy. Also, gold and silver. And I treat stripes, in neutral colors, as such black and white or navy and white, leopard print, and in some cases, camo, as “neutrals” as well. That can get a little more complicated, but you can read more about neutrals and mixing prints here.

Yes!!! Color. I love this look!
Love your style. Can you show a similar post to this one using red pants?
Hi Karen,
I have 2 posts about red pants. You can find them here and here. Also, you can search for anything on the blog using the search function (on the side bar on a desktop, near the bottom of the screen on your mobile phone). Hope that helps! 🙂
Can you please also do a post about comfy patterned pants? I’m large busted and prefer patterns away from my face. I’m struggling to find comfortable flattering pants in prints (not just black and white and animal prints) with colour that I can wear in a business casual environment.
(I have the green pants already but need o have them tailored somewhat).
