I recently had a request to come up with some ideas for summer shorts. I love bright chino shorts, like these plus size coral shorts. Bright pants too, if shorts aren’t your thing. And they are easier to style than you might think. Below are two new looks with plus size coral shorts and two from the past, including this look from last summer, in which most pieces are still available.
If you are looking for a lot of length options, check out Talbots. They have plus size twill shorts in beautiful colors in four different lengths: 7″ shorts, 9″ shorts, 10.5″ shorts, and 13″ shorts. I’ve included more plus size coral shorts options at the end of this post.
In this first plus size outfit, I included a denim shirt, which can be worn by itself, with a tank under it, tucked in, left untucked, or open like a jacket. So many possibilites! My personal favorite, is to wear it layered with a tank, untucked, with just a few buttons under the bust buttoned, to create the illusion of (or to accentuate) a waist.

This second plus size coral shorts outfit features a navy striped sweater that I’m obsessed with. See another outfit below with the same sweater. You could also wear a navy striped top, like this very similar look from last summer. I then added some classic accessories, including this leather wristlet, which is a great find!

Love this color and combos. Word of warning, read the material make-up before ordering. No stretch at all. I ordered my usual size and waaaay to tight in the waist (like can’t button by 2 inches!!! ) but great in the legs. Boo, sad these don’t work for me 🙁

Oh no! 🙁 I was going to suggest trying the Talbot’s chino shorts (they have 4 different lengths to choose from). But I see they have 2% spandex, which is the same as the Lands End. I looked at the Lane Bryant Bermuda shorts, but they have no fabric info! 🙁 Old navy shorts are a little shorter by have 3% spandex: http://rstyle.me/~9RZOs If I come across any other similar shorts, I’ll let you know!
I literally JUST bought these coral color shorts, with a comfort waist,,, at WAL MART. I am a size 18-20, and got a 2x. They are by George brand, and they are $12.97. I don’t really buy clothing at Walmart, but the color caught my eye, so I picked them up. I don’t know how they wash, but there is a lot of stretch in the fabric, and the fit me ( 5,10 ) nicely.
