But as I’ve said, cropped wide leg pants can be difficult to pull off.  You can read all about my thoughts, including my struggles during what I call “the summer of the gaucho” here.  And below are some of the tips to help you wear this trend in more flattering ways.

The Tips

1. Look for a heavier fabric and a high-waist.
2. Keep your tops cropped or tucked-in.
3. A “chunky” and taller shoe is better.  Pair with platforms, wedges, block or stacked heels.
4. And don’t forget to be mindful of your proportions.

The Outfit

This plus size outfit follows most of my tips.  The cropped wide leg pants I chose are high-waisted.  Check.  I paired them with a cropped top and cardigan.  Check.  And while I went with a flat mule, you can also rock a mule with a heel for added height. Check.  And lastly, if you’re concerned about your proportions or looking shorter, check out these full length high waisted wide leg pants.

This look can take you from the office to lunches and brunches.  Swap out the mules, which are a great business casual option, for a sandal for more casual vibes.  Top with a demin jacket anytime you need to add a layer.
