A plus size Fair Isle work outfit for my “plus size on a budget series!”
Also, in case you missed it, check out this other plus size “on a budget” work outfit, which features many of the same pieces.
Plus Size on a Budget – Fair Isle Work
My “Disclaimer”
I want to prevent some anticipated feedback. So please keep these things in mind:
- “Budget” is relative. Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
- You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less. These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across. And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed. Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously, if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
- Recycle & reuse. As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks. Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.
Outfit Details
You might remember from some recent posts, I love Fair Isle.
So when I saw this gorgeous Fair Isle sweater at such a great price, I knew I had to feature it on the blog.
I like it layered with a white collared shirt for a more professional look.
Layer it over these black plaid pants.
They’re ankle length and will show off these chain-embellished loafers.
Add a black trench coat as needed.
Top the look with some oversized sunglasses.
(They look a lot like these Fendi sunglasses, just sayin’)
And grab a black tote bag.
Jewelry
For the jewelry, I went with sculptural and trendy gold pieces.
Starting with the infamous Bottega-inspired teardrop earrings.
I have them in both sizes, amazing!
Then add a stretch snake bracelet.
And finish things off with a sculptural gold ring.
Jewelry Care
These beauties are gold plated, so you might need to “baby” them for longevity.
Avoid the obvious: showers, pools, spraying your wrist with perfume while wearing them.
Store them in air-tight plastic bags, if possible. This will keep the plating from damage and tarnishing.
Perfume
I included one of my favorite on-a-budget fragrances: Dossier’s “Gourmand Orange Blossom.”
This perfume is inspired by Lancome’s “La Vie Es/t Belle.”
This is a warm floral that is perfect for fall.
FYI, I had Dossier on my “to try” list for quite some time.
I ordered a bunch of their scents. And I love them!
Someone asked me about their longevity.
In my opinion, they last as long as the fragrances they are inspired by.
Yasssss! An amazing luxurious scent at a fraction of the price!
