Glen Plaid Blazer

This beautiful double-breasted blazer is made with a wool-blend Glen plaid.

Glen plaid, which is short for “Glen Urquhart plaid,” originated in Scotland (just like Tartan and Fair Isle).

However, it was made popular later by King Edward VIII, who was the Prince of Wales, so it is sometimes called the “Prince of Wales check.”

Regardless, it is a timeless woven design and can work for causal looks or workwear.

Casual Look 1 Details

I paired the Glen plaid blazer with an on-trend black turtleneck and mid-rise straight leg jeans in a medium wash.

These 90s straight leg jeans are from J.Crew.

J.Crew Sizing

In case you haven’t heard, J.Crew now has many items in plus sizes up to a size 24 or 3X.

Their sizing is comparable to Lane Bryant

One thing to note is that some of their pants and jeans come by waist sizing (vanity), so check the size chart below to see which size you are.

Add some interest and a pop of color with some orange flats.

This is a great opportunity to “shop your closet.”

Any bold color flat will work.  Look for red, hot pink, orange, electric blue shoes to add.

Oversized designer sunglasses (or some similar ones at a great price) keep the look chic.

Add a basic black crossbody leather bag for practicality.

Jewelry

With the influence of Bottega Veneta, sculptural gold jewelry is hot.

You can read my thoughts about Bottega Veneta here.

I love their waterdrop earrings, but not the price tag.

Fear not, I found some similar earrings for a lot less on Amazon.

Then I added a gold cuff bracelet and my favorite gold ring.

Lipstick

As I recently mentioned, I finally tried the YSL’s Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Sticks.

I know you have heard me talk about my favorite lipsticks, the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipstick Balms, many many times.

You can read all of my thoughts here.

I am a big fan!  And then I had someone suggest I try YSL’s Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Sticks.

And because I refuse to pay full price for these insanely-priced lippies, I had to wait for the Sephora sale.

Anyway, point is, I finally tried one!  I purchased the “Showcasing Nude” shade.

And yes, they are awesome!

It looks like a lip gloss, but has more staying power without the “stickiness” that I hate in long-lasting glosses.

But most importantly, they are moisturizing.  I mean like decadent moisture!

They are made with mango oil, vitamin E, pomegranate extract, and hyaluronic acid.

And they smell similar to the Rouge Volupté Shine, which is amazing!

Point is, I think I have a new favorite.

Perfume

As for the perfume, Maison Margiela’s “By the Fireplace” is a recent find.

As you well know by now, I am usually all about florals.

But, this warm unisex fragrance has stolen my heart.

A great find for fall and winter, it literally makes you think you are roasting chestnuts at a wood-burning fireplace.

I’m kind of obsessed.

If you’re not ready to try something new at its full price tag, perhaps try the Dossier version.

I tried this perfume brand, Dossier, which boasts “designer inspired” fragrances.

I ordered a bunch of their scents.  And so far, I love them!

Although I don’t own their “Woody Chestnut,” which is inspired by Maison Margiela’s “By the Fireplace,” I feel confident recommending it based on my experience with their other scents.

Switch things up with another casual ensemble featuring the same Glen plaid blazer.

Add your favorite white button down shirt.

Keep things monochromatic with an oversized black quilted shopper bag.

This show stopping YSL bag is on my wish list, but it is bonkers expensive.

Try this big quilted tote for the same vibe but at a much more reasonable price.

And complete the look with some embellished black mules.

Of course as I type this, these mules are almost sold out.  Sigh.

So take a look at these.

Work Look 1 Details

Easily wear the first casual outfit idea to the office by swapping the jeans for some black pants.

Personally, I wouldn’t add in the pop of orange this time.

I just think it looks more polished to stick with black for shoes.

So I opted for the same black mules.
