After my last post with plus size wedding guest dresses with sleeves, I had some requests for plus size long dresses and gowns with sleeves.  So I did some searching.  I have to say that this was more difficult than I thought.  For one, many long dresses with sleeves look “wintry.”  In these dresses you would look out of place at a night summer wedding.  And second, many of them looked “old lady.”  No thank you!

I think the twenty four dresses I picked are perfect for spring and even summer nights but still offer arm-coverage.  And I think they can be “age-appropriate” for just about everyone without looking “old” or “old-fashioned.”  Ugh, why is that so difficult, designers?  These dresses range in price from rentals under $100 to a beaded lace gown that is more than $500.  So there is certainly something for every budget!

I will say that in my search, I have concluded that dresses by Kiyonna and IGIGI are truly designed for the plus sized woman.  Their dresses aren’t just straight-sized designs cut larger which, let’s face it, is totally hit or miss when it comes to actually flattering a larger body.  I mention this because if you are in the market for a dress that you are going to feel comfortable in and that is curve-flattering and flaw-forgiving, these are the places I would recommend you start.  Next I would recommend Dillard’s, which came as a total surprise during my search.  They had a really nice selection of cocktail dresses and gowns, including dresses by Tadashi Shoji, one of my favorite special occasion designers.
