A black blazer outfit for my “plus size on a budget series!”
When I saw this beautiful double-breasted ponte knit blazer for under thirty dollars, I knew I had to create a look!
My “Disclaimer”
I want to prevent some anticipated feedback. So please keep these things in mind:
- “Budget” is relative. Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
- You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less. These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across. And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed. Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously, if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
- Recycle & reuse. As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks. Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.
Jeans & Blazers
This look can take you from day to night with bootcut jeans and d’Orsay pumps. And you know how I love jeans and blazers!
So whether it’s a night out or a winter luncheon, this look will be your go-to. After all, a blazer dresses up any denim.
And you’re going to love the fit of this blazer because it’s made of a thick ponte knit. It will easily stretch to fit your curves.
Plus, the cut creates a faux waist silhouette. So flattering.
And you can easily wear this blazer to the office with some black slacks or pencil skirt.
Accessories
To keep this look classic and bougie, I chose accessories that look far more expensive than they are. My favorite thing!
The sunnies look quite similar to some designer shades from Celine.
And the quilted tote bag could easily be mistaken for a Chanel bag.
The cuff bracelets feature Swarovski crystals and cubic zirconia. They are absolutely stunning at an amazing price!
And, of course, black pointed toe pumps complete any look. These d’Orsay pumps are great for dressing up.
You could always opt for some flats when going more casual.

Thank you! I hope you love your buys! 🙂
Hi Alexa,
Long time subscriber here.
Thank you for always putting together beautiful pieces. As much as I enjoy these, most of the looks do not fits all shapes, I know you have shared how to dress an apple shape in the past, but it would be nice if you could probably make different looks for different shapes. This blazer in as much as is beautiful, would do nothing for my apple shape.
Hi Maureen!
Have you seen my plus size apples post? I hope that helps people to adjust outfit ideas as needed.
Thanks so much for reading! ❤
I am an apple and this outfit actually would enhance our shape.. where the blazer cinches gives us more of a waist.. the flare of the pants balances while the heals lengthens ya out a bit
Thanks, Kendra. I agree.
Bought this blazer. I’ve tried several different ones but I’ve been looking for “the one”. I think this might be my match!
Awesome! I hope you love it! ❤
you are amazing/
Aww, thank you, Carole!
