A plus size Parisian chic outfit for summer and on into the fall. This is another look from my “on a budget” series. Before getting into the details, I want to prevent some anticipated feedback. So please keep these things in mind:
Plus Size on a Budget – My “Disclaimer”
- “Budget” is relative. Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
- You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less. These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across. And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed. Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
- Recycle & reuse. As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks. Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.

Parisian Chic
I haven’t been to Paris in a long time. Le sigh. But, from what I remember, everyone was SO cool. The street style was priceless!
This was before the days of Lookbook.nu and Instagram, so I honestly feel like I hadn’t really been exposed to such style.
It was as though the Champs-Élysées was a catwalk full of beautiful women who looked effortlessly put-together.
I spent some time in the garment district of Manhattan and even other European cities as a kid but Paris was another level.
I hope to get to go back someday! I digress…
This look is all about the “je ne sais quoi” factor. It is hip yet classic.
And it’s also comfortable and easy. It’s something I can see myself wearing on the Trocadéro, trying not to look like a tourist, while obviously taking selfies with the Eiffel Tower.
I think they’ll still know I’m an American, even with a baguette under my arm. Lol.
Plus Size on a Budget – Outfit Details
The scarf is the pin that holds this look together. Wear it around your head, wrapped around a low ponytail, or even around your neck. See some examples here.
The boat-neck striped top is a Parisian staple.
I have also heard them called a French Sailor’s shirt.
While the cigarette pant is a great choice for Paris, I have to be me and do some jeans.
These plus size distressed jeans remind me of the much pricier “chewed hem” jeans from J.Crew I featured in this look.
And finally, the pièce de résistance: the pop of red in these chic red flats.
They are similar to these Naturalizer d’Orsay flats that I love, but at a fraction of the price. Oh la la!
