A plus size work dress with boots for my “plus size on a budget series!”
This plus size fall and winter sweater dress outfit would work well for business casual offices and even holiday events.
Also, in case you missed it, check out this budget outfit and this other plus size “on a budget” work outfit, which features many of the same pieces.
Plus Size on a Budget – Work Dress & Boots
My “Disclaimer”
I want to prevent some anticipated feedback. So please keep these things in mind:
- “Budget” is relative. Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
- You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less. These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across. And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed. Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously, if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
- Recycle & reuse. As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks. Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.
Outfit Details
A plus size “twofer” sweater dress is so cute, and on trend, for your workplace this fall and winter.
Top with a beautiful bright red coat once the weather turns.
Accessorize with a silk scarf. You can wear it around your neck or head, tied on a ponytail, on your bag handle, or even your wrist!
Top the look with some oversized sunglasses.
(They look a lot like these Fendi sunglasses, just sayin’)
And grab a black tote bag.
Wide Calf & Extra Wide Calf Boots
Keep things simple with some wide calf black heeled boots, which also come in extra wide calf. Woot!
Be sure to look at the calf size chart to determine your calf size.
If you need help measuring your calves for sizing, go here.
And if you want more suggestions on where to find wide calf and extra wide calf boots, go here.
If these 3″ heeled boots are too tall for you, try these.
Jewelry
For the jewelry, I went with sculptural and trendy gold pieces.
Starting with the infamous Bottega-inspired teardrop earrings.
I have them in both sizes, amazing!
Then add a favorite bracelet of mine.
It looks way more expensive than it is and fits my slightly-larger-than-average sized wrists perfectly.
And finish things off with a sculptural gold ring.
Jewelry Care
These beauties are gold plated, so you might need to “baby” them for longevity.
Avoid the obvious: showers, pools, spraying your wrist with perfume while wearing them.
Store them in air-tight plastic bags, if possible. This will keep the plating from damage and tarnishing.
Perfume
I included one of my favorite on-a-budget fragrances: Dossier’s “Gourmand Orange Blossom.”
This perfume is inspired by Lancome’s “La Vie Es/t Belle.”
This is a warm floral that is perfect for fall.
FYI, I had Dossier on my “to try” list for quite some time.
I ordered a bunch of their scents. And I love them!
Someone asked me about their longevity.
In my opinion, they last as long as the fragrances they are inspired by.
Yasssss! An amazing luxurious scent at a fraction of the price!

You are always so good about sharing alternates, that I’m guessing you couldn’t find one that was a little longer version of the sweater dress?
Not in that color or price point. You can see some similar dresses here, here, and here.
I hope that helps!
I found one! Check out this dress.
