I’ve had some requests to create some plus size professional looks for those with a professional dress code and job interviews. You can never go wrong with a quality pantsuit. It is one of the easiest ways to meet a dress code standard and look your best in the work environment. And the great thing about a pant suit, aside from purchasing a matching skirt, is the ease with which you can change your shirt or blouse and accessories for different looks. Bonus: swap out the pants for a matching skirt to get the most wear out of it. The suit really is an efficient “uniform” for adulting.
For the following three professional looks I chose a black modern cut 2-button suit with wide leg trousers and pencil skirt (jacket, pants, skirt). The buttons are placed lower on the jacket, just under the bust, for a more flattering silhouette. This will accentuate the waist of pears and hourglasses and create the illusion of a waist on other shapes. The fabric has stretch and is all season. These are some key things to look for when suit shopping. It also comes in a petite cut. But keep in mind you may have to take your suit in for tailoring (remember, we’re adulting here). This is an investment piece, the effort will pay off.
Now if you’ve got a quality and perfect-fitting suit, you’re going to look like a million bucks with just a white button down and black pumps. Below are some suggestions to mix it up to get the most wear out of your suit. Go here for more plus size work outfit ideas.

I love the plus size blouse, which will obviously needs to be worn with a cami under and a jacket over, tucked in. But after work, head straight to cocktails rocking this sexy shirt!

This is so perfect !!!!
I have to look professional at work everyday. Not only does it get expensive buying outfits but daunting. Can you do a post using the skirt-suit?
Thanks
Hi Annie,
Maybe I can do another post with the skirt, but really you can swap out the pants for the skirt with any of these outfits! Thanks for reading!
the links aren’t working for me, it takes me to Nordstrom but there is nothing showing on the screen.
Nordstrom’s website was down earlier today. Let me know if the links still aren’t working for you. Thanks!
working now.. and I am considering purchasing the pantsuit! If I do I will use your link for sure!
That’s great! Thank you!
Thanks! I had a big job interview last week (still waiting to hear back), and I was trying to find something to wear. I had to improvise a bit, but the third look in this post was my inspiration, and I felt great. I went off to my interview thinking, “I would so hire me!” I’ve never felt put together for a job interview the way I did, and the value of that cannot be overstated.
That’s so great! I really hope you get the job!
