I often hear “Should plus size people wear stripes?”

I think Melissa does a fantastic job of breaking down this outdated “rule” regarding plus sizes and stripes.

Outfit Details

Like I said, this outfit idea is on-trend starting with the cut of the open longline blazer in red.

Long and relaxed blazers are trending.

Add a classic piece, like a black striped t-shirt.

The converse sneakers are also a classic choice and keeps the look relaxed.

And the large unstructured tote bag pairs nicely with the wide leg jeans.

Yes, these high-rise superwide-leg jeans totally remind me of ’90s JNCO jeans.

And I’m here for it!

J.Crew Sizing

These super wide leg jeans come from J.Crew.

In case you haven’t heard, J.Crew now has many items in plus sizes up to a size 24 or 3X.

Their sizing is comparable to Lane Bryant.

One thing to note is that some of their pants and jeans come by waist sizing (vanity), so check the size chart below to see which size you are.

Jewelry

With the influence of Bottega Veneta, sculptural gold jewelry is hot.

I love their waterdrop earrings, but not the price tag.

By the way, I bought these earrings in the smaller and larger sizes.

The larger ones are stunning, but they are heavier so keep that in mind.

A bold red matte lip called “Dragon Girl” is perfect for this look.

If you have a warmer undertone, choose the “Too Hot to Hold” shade.

My favorite affordable red matte is “Always Red,” from Sephora.

It has a very neutral undertone.
