Hello, my dear readers! I have had several outfits featuring this “it” kimono (I think it was from Zara) pinned to my Spring Style Pinterest Board for quite some time now.
Check out some of them:
Amazing, right?
So imagine my utter elation when I spotted this plus size kimono, which is SO similar and goes up to a size 20! My only disappointment is that it is a little shorter (41″) than the “it” kimono, but it should be longer on me (5’5″) than it is shown on that tall model! Update: I just found this similar long kimono at Target!
Regardless, I love that this kimono can be styled in so many ways.
Layer it over a dressed-up outfit with heels and a clutch.
Nod to preppy with a striped tee (you know how I love stripes!) and straw bag. Make it look lux with mules or loafers and a Gucci bag.
Add adidas Gazelles and an overcoat for street-style magic.
Or layer it over a simple midi dress with a pair of slides for an “easy summer” ensemble. You really can’t go wrong!
As we’ve talked about, a kimono over jeans and a tank is pretty much my “go to” during the spring and summer. So in the look below, I styled the kimono with some basics like these plus size cropped boyfriend jeans.
Although I love these plus size distressed bf jeans, if distressing isn’t your thing, any jeans will do. Just throw on your favorites!
I do love to pair mules with ankle or cropped jeans though. It’s a look, you know what I mean?
The Gucci mules are to friggin’ die for, am I right? But, alas, I can’t afford to even look at them. Seriously.
However, I included them in the look more as an aspiration of what we’re trying to achieve here. Also, if you happen to be able to afford them, you should splurge. Oh, and also send me a pair! Lol.
But I included several other gold mule options that are far more affordable. Gold mules are everywhere right now!
And Y-necklaces are totally on trend right now too. I like this one in particular because it is 16″ with 3″ extender, so even if it ends up as a choker on you, you can still pull it off. By the way, this similar Baublebar necklace is slightly longer at 18″ with a 2″ extender.

I totally bought the Kimono from Torrid. Love the soft colors and shorter sleeve.
It’s been sitting in my cart for about a week now. Lol. I really like it too!
I also found some Rose tinted Gold mules in WIDE at Catherine’s for only $14.99. Such a steal!!!!
If you could throw in some cotton capri style pants in the next few weeks that would be great! I’m trying to get these casual looks into the dressy casual for work. 😉 And all the distressed, boyfriend jeans are getting tiring. I need inspiration for bottoms.
Keep up the great styles! Love your posts!
Oh that’s great! I always forget to check the wide shoes and wide calf boots at Catherine’s! Good call!
I’ll see what I can do with work capris, I tend to do at least ankle length for work, but I will look and see what’s out there in the capri world.
Thanks for reading!
So glad to see this post!! I just ordered the kimono. I’ve been looking for one this color and the target one is a darker green, not the way it photographs.
Loved all the options! I went with the longer Target one. I’m 5’10” with red hair and I loved the darker, longer green Target kimono. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks, Sheila!
