Happy Weekend! I’ve put together a look that can easily go to the office or weekend brunch!
If you’re intimidated by horizontal stripes, might I recommend wearing them as a layer. The BS “theory” behind the “no plus sized women in horizontal stripes” is that stripes make you look “wide(r).” However, breaking up the pattern with a layer, such as an open cardigan, circumvents this “problem.”
Note my abundant use of quotation marks. The reason is that I don’t believe in these rules regarding what is acceptable vs unacceptable for plus size women. To me, “flattering” is relevant to everyone. But, nothing, I repeat, nothing is off-limits because of one’s size. The best thing I’ve read about the stripe controversy is “Are horizontal stripes REALLY making you look fat?”(a must-read), written by Melissa at Suger Coat It. She breaks it down for us: “No, horizontal stripes won’t make you look fat. Only being fat makes you look fat. And you know what, that’s okay.”
Regardless of your comfort-level, this is a look anyone can pull off!

So are you wearing stripes? Tell me how you feel about “the stripe controversy!”
Loooove stripes. And thanks for mentioning my post, I love that one. People go a little nuts about stripes, but I love them.
I love them too! And of course, I love that blog post. You tell it like it is! 🙂
I really love the boots. Can you tell me where you got them?
Sure! They are linked above or you can find them here: http://goo.gl/1m1oxp
