Life is Short, Wear Stripes

As I said, these plus size looks feature a striped tees.

But, if you’re unsure about stripes, please read this post “Are horizontal stripes REALLY making you look fat?,” written by Melissa at Suger Coat It. 

She explains, “No, horizontal stripes won’t make you look fat. Only being fat makes you look fat.  And you know what, that’s okay.”

I think Melissa does a fantastic job of breaking down this outdated “rule” regarding plus sizes and stripes. 

Outfit Details

A timeless blazer is made fun with some striped t-shirts and trendy mom jeans.

This blazer will never go out of style, but it is expensive.  Oof!

So I found some similar but less expensive options.

For the first outfit, I went with a coral striped tee.  Love it!

And of course, mom jeans keep the outfit looking fresh and on-trend.

These jeans are high rise with a relaxed leg and 28″ inseam so will hit at the ankle unrolled.

I like mules with this look for a new take on a classic loafer.

Accessories

Tortoise cat eye sunglasses give a bit of a retro and classic vibe.

A crossbody bag from Mulberry will have you feeling British-level classy.  Now that’s classy!

And don’t forget to put on some perfume. 

I always get compliments when wearing this citrus and floral scent: J’Adore Dior Lumière.

Jewelry

For jewelry, I stacked the wrist with one of my favorite gold chain bracelets, Tory Burch watch, ball bracelet, and a bangle.

Add a beautiful ring with a wavy texture.

And these large (50mm) thick but lightweight gold hoop earrings are some of my favorites.

The hoops are made by PAVOI, which you can find on Amazon, I’ve mentioned many times before.

The quality is really great for the price!

Jewelry Care

The gold hoops are inexpensive plated pieces so you might need to “baby” them for longevity.

Avoid the obvious: showers, pools, spraying your wrist with perfume while wearing them.

Store them in air-tight plastic bags, if possible.  This will keep the plating from damage and tarnishing.

My Favorite Lipstick

I thought I’d also mention the featured lipstick is my favorite.

As I’ve said, the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick Lipsticks are my favorite lipsticks. 

I readily admit they are bougie AF and totally break the budget.  But they are amazing!

They’re 65% oil and feel amazing on the lips!  Not to mention they smell fantastic. 

Plus, the packaging is so gorgeous that I actually bought a lipstick holder, like this one, to display them.

And I just can’t say enough great things about them!

The closest lippies I have found at more reasonable prices are L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Shine Lipstick and Sephora’s Rouge Lacquer Lipsticks. 

In my experience, these are similar, but they aren’t even close to the decadence of the YSL ones.

Update: Recently someone told me that the L’Oreal’s Glow Paradise Balm-in-Lipstick is a dupe. 

I ordered one to try, and I found it really disappointing.  

They‘re not very moisturizing and the smell is unappealing (that chemical lipstick smell).
