As I promised in my last plus size thanksgiving outfits post, I came up with some looks for my Southern fashionistas (who aren’t currently freezing like me- I refuse to turn on the heat this early)! So, I came up with some more plus size thanksgiving outfits with lighter weight fabrics, short sleeves, layers, and no knee boots. I mixed some classics with a little bit of glam with some nods to fall; still preppy af. Enjoy!

Plus Size Thanksgiving Outfits – Southern Edition
Plus Size Thanksgiving Outfit 7
I love an opulent statement necklace layered on top of a sequin top or dress because I’m that bitch. Ha. No, in all seriousness, I think it takes your sequins up to the next level and if you’re trying to shine like a disco ball, go all in! If it seems like too much, just remember we are tempering the glam with classic casual pieces like a denim jacket and suede ankle booties. This outfit is all about balancing dressy with casual which makes it fashion-forward and interesting. You can find tips on picking your best red lipstick for your skin tone in my original thanksgiving outfits post here.

This outfit could easily be worn everyday, especially with a simple white tee. But, add a lace tee and a statement necklace {sold out} and you get touches of glam. It really looks effortless. Swap out the simple flats for a pair of nude or black pumps to dress this look up further. Then, if you lose the vest and you can rock this look for a night out. It is really difficult to look “seasonal” when dressed for a warm climate! In this outfit, I added this fall-looking buffalo plaid blanket scarf and light weight utility vest, but you could remove either or both if it gets too warm.

Love your site and the ideas are great. I would love to wear a sweater if I didn’t live in Southern California. I love their look. I also stopped wearing them when I watched a What Not To Wear episode and they pointed out that sizes fourteen and up probably don’t need the extra bulk. That made me sad so I’ve stayed away for years. I might try with your tips and tricks.
Hi Missy! Thank you! I assume the weather stays pretty mild in So Cal (I’m jealous!). As for “extra bulk,” these are the types of recommendations I pay no attention to. For one, those of us living in colder climates need layers, sweaters, and coats for very practical reasons so it seems silly to act like we should freeze to possibly look marginally thinner. And that brings me to my second point, the extra bulk or lack there of isn’t going to make enough of a difference for anyone to think we are thinner or smaller. I call bullshit. Lol. And lastly, I say try things and experiment. Maybe something will look less flattering on you or maybe it will look amazing. You won’t know if you don’t try, so don’t avoid something just because of your size. And that’s just my 2 cents. π You do you, always! π
The suede booties (both) in outfit 1 are not working. Can you relink please?
Sorry, I thought I fixed them. I think something weird is going on with Zappos. They are called VIONIC Sterling. Try this:
Your outfits are always spot on, Maybe you can help me I am looking for a pair of Mustard colored pants
Hi Marcia,
I couldn’t find any pants. I did find these jeans, but they’re more burnt orange: http://rstyle.me/n/ctka9mcau7p and these which are sold out in most sizes: http://bit.ly/2zMk7ZL I’ll let you know if I come across any more.
Quick question, for chilly weather what hose/tights would you recommend to wear with the plaid skirt (the modcloth midi) outfit and suede booties? Thank you for all of your wonderful suggestions! LOVE the Thanksgiving ideas!! π
Hi Kori! Thank you! I would probably do black or charcoal tights.
Just got this lace too on sale. I love it, nice quality and comfortable to wear. Really enjoying out to g your ideas together. Wish you were around years ago!
Thanks! π
