Basics but Better

This third outfit idea is basically a tee and jeans.  Simple, but never basic.  Sorry, not sorry.  Yes, this t-shirt‘s feather fringe will keep you looking hot while staying cool.

As for the jeans, I chose a flared leg jean.  And I highly recommend the latest from Torrid: my favorite jeggings, you know the ones I talk about all the time, which are now available with a flared leg.  Yessss!  I actually included them in my recent favorites update.  I mean a jegging + flare cut, is that not just the best combination?!?

The “Extra” Extras

Now, you could complete the look with a simple black bag and a stud earring.  But, if you have the opportunity to add a little sparkle, why wouldn’t you?  Throw on some blinged-out earrings, a sequin clutch, and a bad ass bracelet.  By the way, I added some great less expensive alternatives below, so make sure you take a look.  Complete your look with some glittery liquid eye shadow and red lips.

Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows

Someone somewhere once commented that she wished to know how I use the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows (Nordstrom Ulta / Sephora).  Sadly I never answered her because of the many comments and emails I get across all social media, sometimes people’s comments “fall through the cracks.”  So sorry about that and I hope you’re reading this!

First, I want to correct a recommendation that I made.  I suggested that ColourPop’s Supernova Shadows might be a less expensive alternative.  I finally tried them.  And while they are similar in concept, they are significantly different.  They have much less glitter, more pigment, and in my opinion are just not nearly as good of a product.  I have to play with them more, but that was my first impression.  I had transfer, smudging, and fallout, which are issues I have never had with the Stila shadows.

As for application, I like to think of them as a glitter “topper.”  Meaning, I will apply my eye shadows as usual then top certain areas with the glitter liquid.  Amazingly, even wet, they don’t seem to disturb the shadows I’m applying them over.  They dry quite quickly and once dry, they are “locked in.”  You can also layer and build them up.

Stila’s “Diamond Dust,” a silver and holographic glitter, is amazing over a shimmery eye shadow, such as L’Oreal’s Infallible 24H Shadow in “Iced Latte” in the inner corner for a highlight.  This is my favorite inner-corner highlight when I am trying to shine to the heavens.  Tip: apply “Iced Latte” with the tippy tip of your pinky.  Finger application with the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Shadow is so much better than a brush.

And when I’m trying to be festive, fancy, or just generally awesome, I will top that shadow with Stila’s “Diamond Dust.”  This combination is all about being extra.  I will also sometimes use the “Diamond Dust” on the inner 1/3 of my eye for extra sparkle.

Another great combination is using the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Shadow in “Amber Rush” (similar in color to UD’s “Trick” from Naked3 Palette) in the inner two-thirds of the eye lid and then top it with Stila’s “Kitten Karma” (Nordstrom Ulta / Sephoraand then some darker shadows on the outer third/outer-v.
