A plus size tweed jacket styled two ways for my “plus size on a budget series!”
Some fun casual looks for fall and winter all on a budget!
These looks remind me of this Meghan Markle inspired outfit.
Plus Size on a Budget – Tweed Jacket Outfits
My “Disclaimer”
I want to prevent some anticipated feedback. So please keep these things in mind:
- “Budget” is relative. Some people easily spend $300 on sunglasses, while other people allocate $300 for their annual clothing budget.
- You may be able to find these items elsewhere for less. These are just some “budget-friendly” finds I have come across. And I typically don’t link to clearance items because they sell out and then people are disappointed. Also, I have no way of linking to thrift stores, but obviously, if you want to check out your local thrift stores, I think that is a great idea!
- Recycle & reuse. As with all of my posts, I hope that you can use the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Additionally, I assume that you can reuse all of the pieces below in other combinations with things in your closet to create a variety of looks. Meaning, I think it is unfair to judge the expense of one outfit as though that is the only way to wear the pieces.
Outfit 1 Details
Both of these plus size casual outfit ideas are nearly the same, I simply swapped a couple of items to show more options.
And both of these outfit ideas feature the same plus size black tweed jacket with gold buttons.
This cute jacket (as well as this one) look quite similar to the J.Crew “lady jackets” but with much better price tags!
They look so similar that I included them in my Splurge vs Save series.
This jacket is a bit cropped, it is approximately 20” long (I suspect it is slightly longer in the plus sizes).
So it will look great with these ultra high-waisted palazzo wide leg jeans.

More Outfit Details
Top the outfit with some oversized square sunglasses.
I have these sunnies. I love them!
And they look just like some Fendi shades but at a fraction of the price. Oh yes!
Grab a bougie-looking satchel bag in black. Love it!
And throw on some black flats like these patent cap-toed flats.
Jewelry
As for jewelry, I stuck to the trends.
Starting with the infamous Bottega-inspired teardrop earrings.
I have them in both sizes, amazing!
As for the rest of the jewelry, I kept things understated, gold, and a bit trendy: a gold bracelet set and a gold dome ring.
Jewelry Care
These beauties are gold plated, so you might need to “baby” them for longevity.
Avoid the obvious: showers, pools, spraying your wrist with perfume while wearing them.
Store them in air-tight plastic bags, if possible. This will keep the plating from damage and tarnishing.
Perfume
As for the perfume, it’s my longtime “signature scent.”
I have been in love with this fragrance, Vera Wang, since college.
If may smell “dated” but I always get compliments on it.
And the best part is that now it’s inexpensive.
If you’re into light florals, I highly recommend it.

Like I said, this second look is just like the first but with a few changes.
I swapped the cap-toed black flats for some leopard flats.
You might remember these from this budget post.
Then I switched the black satchel for a red one.
I love this combo!
And to finish the look properly, add a red lip. So classic!
